Planning and Time Management

Alongside attending lectures, labs, seminars or supervisions you are responsible for planning and managing your university work.

You have flexibility about when you complete your wider reading, assignments or research. There is no right way to plan your week; instead it's best to find out what work patterns are most effective for you.

The library might be open 24 hours in term time but it is not productive to work non-stop. You're unlikely to produce your best work if you are burnt out.

Planning your time can help ensure you don't miss anything and complete work on time. It can also help you prioritise what you will do when.

It's not all about planning your university work though. You should also make time to do the things you enjoy. Studying at university is about finding the balance between work, life and other responsibilities.

  • evaluate your approach to studying
  • explore more effective, productive working strategies
  • plan and manage your projects and assignments
  • implement strategies for dealing with procrastination or writer's block

The team support students with any underlying issues which may be affecting their wellbeing and academic life.

For example, they work with students who may:

  • be experiencing low mood or a lack of motivation
  • feel too anxious to attend lectures and seminars or to focus on work
