How can they help?

INTO Newcastle University have a programme of English support for students whose first language is not English, which runs alongside degree programmes.

The purpose of the in-sessional support is to help you use the English language to effectively communicate knowledge in your academic studies.

The listening and speaking support is delivered through lectures and workshops. All students whose first language is not English are eligible to register for these classes.

You can also access writing and reading support and one-to-one writing tutorials if you received a University English Language Assessment (UELA) score below 70 or recently completed an INTO Newcastle University programme (e.g. Pre-Sessional, Foundation Pathway) and received a final writing score of below 70.

What do you need to know?

To access the in-sessional programme you will need to complete the UELA and register with INTO. The writing and reading support is only for students who have a University English Language Assessment (UELA) of below 70.

You can attend up to eight hours of taught classes, and this support is free.

One-to-one tutorials are student-directed and are not a proof-reading service.
